THIS WEEK’S BLOCKADES

Trump Asks the Supreme Court to Gut Mail Voting Before a Single Midterm Ballot Goes Out

Trump’s Justice Department is pushing the Supreme Court to move fast and lift a lower court’s block on his executive order restricting mail ballots, telling the justices implementation needs to start within weeks to take effect before November. A dozen Republican-led states, led by Missouri, jumped in on Trump’s side. It’s the first time this White House has asked the Court to bless one of its anti-voting executive orders, and if it works, millions of voters in 23 states and D.C. could see their mail ballots thrown into chaos with just weeks to go before the midterms.

DHS Chased 40,000 “Voter Fraud” Leads. It Got 41 Charges, and Derailed a Child Sex Abuse Case.

A new ProPublica investigation lays out exactly what Trump’s anti-voting crusade has actually produced: out of at least 40,000 leads run down by Homeland Security Investigations, just 41 people were charged, out of over 150 million ballots cast. Along the way, an HSI agent leading a multistate child sex abuse investigation got pulled off it to chase phantom voter fraud, delaying an arrest for months. Our voting systems have always been safe and secure. It’s Trump and Republicans that are vulnerable.

ABHI RAHMAN, Try And Stop Us Chief Spokesperson:

“Trump wants the Supreme Court to let him rip up mail ballots for millions of voters based on a bogus fraud case that produced 41 charges out of over 150 million votes cast. Meanwhile his own agents got pulled off a child sex abuse investigation to make that voter fraud fantasy look real. That’s the whole scam: manufacture a crisis, then ask the courts for emergency power to fix it. There is no crisis. There’s just a president who knows he loses if voters actually get to vote, so he’s racing the clock to stop them.”
