THIS WEEK’S BLOCKADES
Armed Federal Agents Are Knocking on Doors to Question Voters in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Beyond
Armed, uniformed Homeland Security agents are showing up at people’s homes to ask about their immigration status and whether they’ve registered or voted. Trump’s DHS pulled hundreds of agents off investigations into drug smuggling, money laundering and child exploitation and reassigned them to a “Criminal Voter Fraud” surge covering at least six states, including Georgia and Pennsylvania. Agents are working off a “Target List” built from rushed data matching: a USCIS whistleblower says staff were given quotas of 40 people a day, about 12 minutes per person. DHS once claimed nearly 16,000 noncitizens on Nevada’s rolls and couldn’t prove a single one.
Trump’s DOJ Wants to Block 20,000 Californians’ Ballots Over 25 Alleged Votes
Trump’s Justice Department is asking a federal judge to stop California from counting ballots from more than 20,000 voters until the feds sign off on their citizenship. The evidence behind this power grab: roughly 25 to 27 allegedly illegal votes across three general elections where more than 45 million ballots were cast, or one alleged vote for every 1.7 million. Federal law bars last-minute purges of the voter rolls, so DOJ is going after the ballots directly, and Democrats warn in court that the department is laying the groundwork to seize ballots with warrants. Republicans can’t find fraud, so they’re manufacturing an excuse to throw out votes.
Texas’s Top Federal Prosecutor Threatens Voters and Election Officials as Early Voting Opens
On the first day of early voting, Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney Aaron Reitz posted a video vowing to “hunt down” voters who break election law and threatening local election administrators with prosecution. Those same officials just cleared a backlog of hundreds of thousands of registrations that the state’s broken system left in limbo. Reitz says he’s coordinating with the FBI and DHS to surge resources into the election and sending federal monitors to polling places, the same monitors Texas Republicans sued to keep out in 2024. Intimidating voters at the polls is illegal, no matter who does it.
MALLY SMITH, Try And Stop Us Senior Adviser:
“Trump has armed agents knocking on doors, a Justice Department trying to toss tens of thousands of California ballots, and a federal prosecutor in Texas threatening the people who count our votes. Every one of these stunts is designed to scare eligible voters into staying home, and every one comes from a party that knows it’s about to lose. Voter intimidation is a federal crime no matter who does it. Eligible voters can’t be turned away, their ballots will be counted, and in less than two weeks, Republicans will find out that threats don’t win elections.”
