MAGA-Run Georgia Election Board Begs Trump DOJ to Ban the State’s Voting Machines Days Before Early Voting

"Donald Trump has spent six years trying to steal Georgia, and his MAGA cronies on the election board are trying to make sure he succeeds."

WASHINGTON, DC — Georgia’s Republican-controlled State Election Board is now begging the Trump Justice Department to declare the state’s voting system illegal weeks before the midterms. In a letter Wednesday, board Executive Director James Mills asked DOJ to “prohibit” Georgia’s federally certified voting machines and set a binding six-month deadline to scrap them. The request comes days after the board voted 3-2 to seek federal help “from any quarter” and less than two weeks before early voting begins October 13. DOJ has no legal authority to outlaw voting machines or seize equipment, because the Constitution puts states and localities in charge of elections.

Georgia has been ground zero for Trump since he lost it in 2020. In January, his FBI hauled away hundreds of boxes of Fulton County’s 2020 ballots while his disgraced former spy chief Tulsi Gabbard stood outside. Those ballots were already counted three times, with the same result every time. Now unelected MAGA appointees are rolling out the welcome mat for round two.

“Donald Trump has spent six years trying to steal Georgia, and his MAGA cronies on the election board are trying to make sure he succeeds,” said Mally Smith, Try And Stop Us Senior Adviser. “He seized Fulton County’s ballots and went after the election workers and voters of color who stopped him from overturning a race he knew he lost. Now unelected Republicans want his Justice Department to ban Georgia’s voting machines on the eve of early voting because they are terrified of losing a fair fight. The machines work, Georgians’ ballots will count, and nobody gets to take their vote away.”
