Georgia Election Board Invites Trump Administration to Interfere With Georgians’ Votes

WASHINGTON, DC — Just two weeks before Georgia voters head to the polls for early voting in the 2026 midterms, the Georgia State Election Board passed a resolution Monday asking the Trump administration to interfere with the state’s election system, giving federal agencies clearance to pressure state officials into making ill-defined changes to voting equipment on a breakneck timeline.

The resolution, which passed 3-2, directs the board’s executive director to seek assistance “from any quarter,” including Trump’s Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, while pressuring Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to pursue vague updates to Georgia’s voting machines.

With early voting set to begin October 13, the resolution creates maximum chaos and minimum time for election officials to respond, a recipe for confusion, delays, and eroded public confidence in the vote count - which is exactly the point.

Georgia’s voting system has been a target of conspiracy theories since 2020, despite the state’s elections being repeatedly validated by audits, recounts, and court decisions. Now, three Republican members of the state board are opening the door for Trump and his minions to screw around with Georgians’ votes.
