This Week's Blockades
Trump Turns His Deportation Force Into an Army Against Election Officials
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is threatening local election officials with fines and prison time if they don't hand over their voter rolls on demand. To do it, DHS has pulled Homeland Security Investigations, the unit built to fight human trafficking, drug smuggling, and child exploitation, off that work and pointed it at the same “noncitizen voter” numbers the department still can't back up. Refuse to comply, and DHS is dangling the loss of federal grant funding over the state's head.
Trump Won't Rule Out Tearing Up the Constitution to Save His Own Skin
Trump knows he's losing, so he's floating tearing up the rulebook entirely. A far-right radio host urged him on-air to declare a “national security emergency” so he could force through his anti-voting bill without Congress or the courts, and Trump wouldn't rule it out, saying “stranger things have happened.” There is no emergency. There's just a president whose own Justice Department is now 0-for-21 in court trying to seize state voter data, because states run their own elections and no judge is buying his excuses.
From Our Spokesperson
Abhi Rahman, Try and Stop Us Chief Spokesperson: “At Trump's behest, Markwayne Mullin is pulling federal agents off human trafficking and child exploitation cases to go hunt for voter fraud that doesn't exist. A federal court already caught this operation breaking privacy law, and instead of fixing it, Mullin called the judge ‘activist' and kept going. They're on a fishing expedition, and it's happening while Trump does nothing to address his affordability crisis. They can't win a fair fight, so they're wasting federal resources trying to intimidate the people who can beat them.”
