Try And Stop Us Calls on Georgia’s State Board of Elections to Fire Rogue Executive Director Who’s Inviting Chaos Weeks Before the Midterms

Try And Stop Us is calling on the Georgia State Board of Elections to fire its rogue Executive Director James Mills.

WASHINGTON, DC – Try And Stop Us is calling on the Georgia State Board of Elections to fire its rogue Executive Director James Mills after they completely lost control of his actions, inviting chaos just weeks before the November election. Mills sent letters to Trump’s Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security demanding sweeping changes to Georgia’s voting equipment weeks before Election Day, and board members say they never approved or reviewed them. The board’s Republican chair, an appointee of Gov. Brian Kemp, admitted the board has no control over Mills, who “does whatever the hell he wants.” Board member and Georgia GOP vice chair Salleigh Grubbs asked to see the letters before they went out and never got a reply.

Mills’ letters went far beyond what the board authorized, asking the DOJ to force new software onto Georgia’s machines before November, ban QR-code tabulation, and investigate Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Grubbs says there’s no time for those updates before the election, and audits confirm Georgia’s system counts ballots accurately. The board chair called the letters a political hit job designed to sow “chaos and confusion,” and as such, the board should fire Mills before he can do more damage on behalf of Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans who are trying to rig an election they know they are likely to lose.

“Georgia’s MAGA election board director has gone rogue. Four weeks out from Election Day, an unaccountable partisan is freelancing letters begging Trump’s DOJ to rip up Georgia’s voting system, and the election board had to find out from the news. Board members must get Georgia’s house in order and fire James Mills before he does any more damage,” said Mally Smith, Try And Stop Us Senior Adviser. “No matter how many tricks Mills and his friends at DOJ have up their sleeve, Georgians’ votes will be counted on November 3rd, and there’s nothing they can do about it.”
