The Biggest Loser: Trump Refuses to Rule Out ICE at the Polls and Using the Insurrection Act, as Republicans Panic Over the Midterms

"Donald Trump is wetting his pants over the election, just refused to rule out armed federal agents at your polling place, and is openly daydreaming about the Insurrection Act."

WASHINGTON, DC — In a new interview, Donald Trump refuses to rule out sending ICE agents to polling places or invoking the Insurrection Act ahead of the midterms. He previously said ICE could surround the polls, floated a draft executive order to declare a national emergency and seize control of voting machines, and said he should have ordered the National Guard to take voting machines after he lost in 2020.

Voters want no part of any of it. A Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll found Americans oppose sending ICE agents to polling places by 30 points, with nearly half strongly opposed. Sending National Guard troops to the polls is underwater by 17 points. Even Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has backed away from the idea, claiming agents would only appear to respond to a specific threat or serve a warrant.

“Donald Trump is wetting his pants over the election, just refused to rule out armed federal agents at your polling place, and is openly daydreaming about the Insurrection Act,” said Mally Smith, Try And Stop Us Senior Adviser. “He knows Republicans are headed for a beating in November, so he’s trying to scare people into staying home. Voters won’t give him the satisfaction. Federal agents have no business at the polls. Whether it’s threats, bribes, or fake emergencies, Republicans can’t stop Americans from voting in five weeks, and that terrifies them.”
