Outrageous: Trump’s DHS Investigated 150+ Voter Registration Groups and Almost Sent Undercover Agents to Disrupt Their Work

WASHINGTON, DC – Donald Trump’s Homeland Security officials have investigated more than 150 voter registration organizations and nearly sent undercover agents to disrupt their work. New records obtained by Democracy Forward show investigators planned to use undercover findings to launch prosecutions and dismantle the groups. DHS targeted82 groups in Pennsylvania, and about 44 in New Jersey, where it found nothing.

The data driving the hunt is just as shady. Heather Honey, the 2020 election denier now serving as DHS’s election integrity point person, handed investigators 48.4 million records without saying where they came from. Noncitizen voting is extremely rare, and when Nevada checked 185 names DHS swore were noncitizens, every single one was a citizen. DHS has even pulled agents off human trafficking and terrorism cases to scour voter rolls. With Election Day less than a month away, Trump is aiming federal agents at the volunteers who help Americans register to vote.
