NEW: Supreme Court Lets Trump Purge Voters Weeks Before the Midterms

WASHINGTON, DC — Donald Trump’s Supreme Court majority gave him a green light Friday to turn a federal immigration database into a voter purge tool, lifting a lower-court order that found the scheme trampled the privacy rights of American citizens. The 6-3 ruling revives a central piece of Trump’s 2025 anti-voting executive order, much of which courts have already permanently blocked, just weeks before Election Day.

The SAVE system was designed to check eligibility for government benefits; it was never meant to vet voter rolls. Trump ordered DHS to repurpose it anyway, and when Texas ran its rolls through SAVE, state officials trumpeted 2,724 unverified “potential noncitizens.” County investigations have since confirmed at least 578 of those flagged voters are citizens, an error rate of more than one in five. Naturalized citizens will be hit hardest by these false flags.

Trump’s DHS is strong-arming states into abusing this system, too. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin threatened election officials with criminal charges if they refused, a threat DHS later walked back behind closed doors because it has no authority to carry it out.
