Donald Trump’s DHS Folds, Admits It Can’t Back Up Nevada “Noncitizen Voting” Claim

Donald Trump’s DHS admitted they have verified just 185 names out of the nearly 16,000 potential noncitizens the Trump administration claimed were “illegally registered” to vote.

WASHINGTON, DC — Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security admitted to Nevada election administrators that they have verified just 185 names out of the nearly 16,000 potential noncitizens the Trump administration publicly claimed were “illegally registered” to vote in the state. DHS has yet to even review more than 14,000 of the names on its own list, months after Trump stood on stage and announced 278,000 noncitizens were registered to vote nationwide.

Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar called the original number “wildly speculative” back in July. DHS’s own paperwork now proves him right: the agency manufactured a crisis it cannot substantiate, then used it to threaten Nevada election officials with fines and prison time if they refused to purge eligible voters from the rolls.

“DHS just admitted what we’ve said all along: Trump’s ‘noncitizen voting’ claim in Nevada is fabricated garbage, built to justify stripping eligible voters off the rolls before the midterms,” said Abhi Rahman, Try And Stop Us Chief Spokesperson. “They spent months threatening Nevada officials with fines and prison time over a number they made up and can’t prove. Trump and Republicans will lie, cheat, and steal, going to any lengths possible to rig an election they know they’re going to lose. Nevadans should be furious – and they should go vote this November, because that’s exactly what Trump is terrified of.”
