Talking Points Memo: Tom Tiffany voted against certifying Biden's win. Mike Lindell tried to sell Trump on martial law. Tonight, both could win their primaries. In Wisconsin, Tom Tiffany still won't say who won in 2020, telling reporters in May only that there were “improprieties.” In Minnesota, MyPillow conspiracy theorist extraordinaire and Trump favorite Mike Lindell is polling ahead despite his own state party publicly questioning whether he even meets residency requirements.

Wall Street Journal: DOJ is treating routine DMV software errors like proof of a stolen election — and still won't show its work. “We've got this wild pack of howler monkeys screaming about illegal voters with no evidence and no justification,” said Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. Utah's Deidre Henderson, after confirming 99.72% of her state's voters are citizens, called DOJ's latest threat letter “another love letter.” DOJ has lost over 20 court cases trying to force states to hand over their rolls and is still trying anyway.

USA Today: A bipartisan group of 100+ election officials warned the Court that letting Trump's order take effect now would mean “chaos” for 100 million voters. Trump's order would let USPS decide who gets a mail ballot based on a DHS-built citizenship list. States are already telling voters to skip the mail entirely — “we encourage people to use our ballot drop boxes rather than the mail system,” said Washington AG Nick Brown, “just to avoid… at this stage attempts to interfere by the federal government.” The Court could rule any day.

NextGov: A cybersecurity firm spent six weeks digging into voting machines used in Puerto Rico — and found serious flaws, but zero evidence any vote was ever changed. That wasn't the answer the White House wanted. Cybersecurity firm Mojave Research was preparing to expand its work sixfold when it was abruptly shut down. “There was a separate group — let's call them White House-adjacent — who was dissatisfied… that I was not willing to name and shame,” said CEO Jason Wareham, who said he was told Trump adviser Kurt Olsen — now at DOJ — led the effort to kill the contract.

Democracy Docket: Since Trump fired its leadership, the Election Assistance Commission can't legally update any of its rules, including the standards used to certify voting machines. Trump had ordered the agency to decertify every voting system in the country and recertify them under new criteria. Staff now say that's legally impossible without commissioners — which Trump would have to appoint and get confirmed to fix.

Democracy Docket: The 9th Circuit ruled to uphold laws that had previously been blocked, making it harder for some voters to cast ballots.
